Giro Tremor vs Giro Fixture

If your kid is very active and specifically loves to ride a bike or scooter, a helmet will be the basic safety gear we have to provide. We never know what will happen out there, our kid may fall from their bike while playing around and injure themselves on the head which is very dangerous.

Thus, buying the right cycling helmet will be crucial if you want your kids to stay safe while riding their bicycle. Fortunately, safety helmets are available almost everywhere and you can choose different brands that provide different kinds of helmets.

But if you’re looking for the best, you should definitely try buying from Giro. In this article, we’re going to review two of Giro’s helmet models, which are Giro Tremor and Giro Fixture. Giro Fixture is actually made for adults, but that doesn’t mean your children can’t wear it too. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Giro Tremor Review

Giro Tremor is currently priced at $64.95 on Amazon and it holds a rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 from 130 customer reviews. It’s available in matte black, matte green, matte pink, matte red, matte glacier, and matte purple. This helmet fits the heads of the children size 50 to 57 cm and has a product dimension of 15 x 10 x 8 inches. Read also: Coros Linx vs Coros Omni.

The main features of Giro Tremor are the MIPS (Multi-Directional Protection System) to redirect energy in a crash, the Roc Loc Sport MIPS Fit System that allows you to easily adjust position and tension, as well as 18 vents. The MIPS is like a layer inside a helmet and intended to rotate when there is an impact to reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head.

In terms of build and design, Giro Tremor is stylized like a mountain bike helmet, so this model has more coverage in the back and sides. Giro Tremor also has a huge visor that offers a better coverage when your child is riding under the sun.

In terms of helmet construction, Giro Tremor uses in-mold construction, which means that the outer shell is fused with the inner foam core, so the helmet is one solid piece. This is the preferred type of helmet construction because it keeps quality high and the weight low.

Giro is famous for its in-mold construction which is probably the same with co-molded used by Bell. This is actually the same process in which a thin piece of plastic is placed in a mold and conforms to the surface.

This process will make a superior quality helmet and Giro claimed that through the in-mold construction, they can reduce the weight of the helmet as well as improve the vents performance.

The buckle on the Giro Tremor model is a standard-style buckle. While more expensive helmets are starting to upgrade to magnetic, pinch-free buckles, we don’t mind a traditional buckle if it helps keep costs down. We also love this buckle because, while basic, it’s easy to use.

Overall, Giro Tremor is a good cycling helmet that’s designed to fit most children’s heads and it also offers protection against the sun as well as against head collisions in case of accidents. Sold at just below $65, this helmet is definitely worth the price.

Giro Fixture Review

Giro Fixture is currently priced at $64.95 on Amazon, the same with Giro Tremor. It holds a high rating of 4.7 stars out of 5 from 243 customer reviews. It’s available in 5 different colors, which are matte black, matte dark red, matte frost, matte grey, and matte lime. It fits most heads size 54 to 61 cm and has a product dimension of 14 x 9 x 7 inches.

Fixture itself is a very popular model for budget trail helmets and its universal sizing is what makes the unit versatile for different age ranges. In terms of features, this model is very similar to the Giro Tremor model. It comes with an integrated MIPS (Multi-Directional Protection System) that redirects energy in a crash, in-mold construction, as well as 18 Wind Tunnel vents with internal channeling.

Design wise, these helmets are identical to each other and side by side they are resembling each version prominently. However, the Fixture will look like a bulkier, bigger version of Tremor since they do sport the same design.

There is a huge visor at the front and if you ever use or see a trail helmet, these models seem to be based on the MTB application because the Fixture is indeed made for this discipline. They look sporty, have various color options, and won’t give you a mushroom head appearance.

In general, the construction is the same in which there is a thin piece of plastic placed in a mold then conforms to the surface. Here beads of polystyrene are added to the mold then are bolted together followed by injection of steam under pressure.

This steam will expand the polystyrene beads and form into the shape for the mold to make a whole helmet. Since the plastic is heated as well using the steam, it conforms very tightly to the expanded EPS foam thus, it leaves no gaps.

Overall, the Giro Fixture is a great helmet that’s basically just the bigger version of Giro Tremor. Both of these helmets are also priced the same.

Giro Tremor vs Giro Fixture

- MARKET-LEADING PROTECTION: Engineered in Giro’s category-leading helmet test lab
- MIPS: Utilizes the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System to redirect energy in a crash
- COMFORT: Easily adjust position and tension with the Roc Loc Sport MIPS Fit System
- VENTILATION: 18 vents
- MARKET-LEADING PROTECTION: Engineered in Giro’s category-leading helmet test lab
- INTEGRATED MIPS: Utilizes the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System to redirect energy in a crash
- VENTILATION: 18 Wind Tunnel vents with internal channeling
- RUGGED: In-mold construction

These Giro helmets are very popular for cycling activity especially if your kid is more into adventuring than just riding on the road but, what sets them apart from each other prominently is the size because Tremor is made for children and Fixture is made for adults. However, due to the range, both of them can be worn by youth depending on the head circumference.

So, it all comes down to the size of your children’s head. For younger children who usually have smaller heads, then Giro Tremor is the model to buy. If your children are older and their heads are almost as big as adults, then Giro Fixture is the right model to go.
